More about Dr Stefan Visagie

Dr Stefan Visagie is a general surgeon with a wide range of surgical expertise and interests. What sets him apart is his strong commitment to surgical excellence alongside a patient-focused approach, emphasising openness, transparency, trust, and a safe doctor-patient relationship.

Dr Visagie grew up in Nelspruit, where he spent most of his childhood years. He matriculated in 1999 at Hoërskool Nelspruit before moving to Pretoria to pursue his medical studies. He completed his MBChB in 2006 at the University of Pretoria and his FCS in surgery in 2015 at Stellenbosch University, Tygerberg. He has been practising as a surgeon in the George and Garden Route area since 2016.

Outside work, Dr Visagie is married and has three lovely children. He enjoys spending most of his free time with his family, exploring the beautiful Garden Route. His hobbies include cycling, hiking, playing golf, and photography. His most favourite holiday destination is anywhere in the bushveld.

Since January 2016, he has served as a consultant surgeon at George Provincial Hospital, with skills in cancer biology and a focus on abdominal conditions. Now in private practice, he brings his expertise to patients in George and the Garden Route, operating at Medi-Clinic George.
